The concept of SDG Goal 12, “Responsible Consumption and Production,” has garnered attention, and the realization of a sustainable, circular society is increasingly in demand. Our company, as part of the “reverse industry” focusing on the recycling of waste, is promoting manufacturing that starts with waste. To achieve this, we are developing four key business areas.

Business 01Slag Recycling
In a steel mill, iron is produced using raw materials such as iron ore and coke. However, as a byproduct of this process, “slag” (impurities) is inevitably generated. After the iron is processed into products, the remaining slag becomes waste if left untreated. Our company uses proprietary technology to crush and sort this slag, recovering it as a resource and recycling it as a raw material for steel production and cement.

Business 02Non-Ferrous Metals Recycling
Some ferrous metals contain special elements such as nickel and cobalt, which are used to create a type of steel known as “special steel,” designed to have various specific properties. At our “Electric Furnace Factory,” we manufacture and sell these special steels.

Business 03Environmental Recycling
Our company is working with local governments to promote the recycling of small electronic devices. We process items such as computers, mobile phones, and game consoles, recovering circuit boards that contain valuable metals such as gold and silver. In addition, we are pioneering efforts in the industry by recovering metals like nickel and cobalt from rechargeable batteries in small electronic devices and mobile phones.

Business 04Sorting Equipment Business
The Sorting Equipment Business is the foundation of our company, and since our establishment, we have delivered over 7,000 magnetic separators to the world. Not only do we design and manufacture these machines, but we are also the only company in the industry to use our own in-house developed magnetic separators in our production facilities. Our machines, known for their ease of use and robustness, are sold nationwide.

Business 05Overseas Activities
Since its establishment in 1953, Japan Magnetic Separator has had a track record of supplying products overseas, primarily expanding into Asia and the Russian region. In recent years, we have been advancing our business into South Korea, China, and further expanding into India and Southeast Asian countries.
